If you want a car to break the big 200MPH mark, you would expect to spend $100,000 plus, easily. But SRT (a division of the Chrysler Group) is bringing two huge hitters to the 200 Club. The new players are the Challenger and the Charger 2015. Dodge recently resurrected both from the Mopar Muscle era. The Challenger has attained two amazing titles: the World’s most powerful muscle car, and the fastest muscle car currently… and ever. Both have a big badge of 707HP and 650 ft-lb of torque from a Supercharge 6.2L V8. There are three separate performance settings while driving; Street, Sport, and Track, all giving you different feedback and levels of performance.
The Charger takes off from 0-60 in a mere 3.7 seconds, run ¼ mile in just 11 seconds and reach a top speed of 204MPH… and did I forget to mention that this is a 4 door sedan? Perfect for bringing kids to school in. The Challenger has a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds, and runs the strip in 10.8 seconds. Both body lines of these two demons will leave muscle car fans with their jaws on the floor, especially Mopar fans like myself.
The true tests will occur when both hit the Green Hell (Nürburgring Nordschleife, the benchmark of all performance cars, for non-car people). The possibilities for these two badass cars are absolutely endless, and if this is the product SRT will be producing, even Shelby Mustangs will have some amazing competition. With all of the performance these cars offer (actually, just the top speed alone) people are most likely assuming the price would be astronomical, but in reality, the Challenger’s MSRP is just shy of $60,000, and the Charger is expecting to MSRP for about the same. Topping it all off, these two have badass names; the Charger SRT Hellcat and Challenger Hellcat, which ties all attributes together.
