Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater set the record as the thinnest hand-wound watch on the market.
Earlier this year, at Baselworld 2016, a number of world records were set. One of the most alluring may well be the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater watch — setting the world record as the thinnest hand-wound minute repeater on the market.
Part of the ultra-thin Octo collection, the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater houses the complicated 362-part Caliber 362, which measures just 3.12 mm thin. Even when cased, the watch is still majestically slim at 6.85 mm.
The movement had to be built from scratch and consists of more than 300 parts.
Several years in the making, the watch required the brand’s horological experts to start from scratch, building an all-new ultra-slim movement with the most melodious and beautiful chiming sound as any other watch larger in size.
The Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater offers crystal clear pitch, tone and acoustical loudness. It has been tested and retested in a special room in Bulgari’s Haute Horology workshops using only state-of-the-art computer testing.
Crafted in titanium, the watch features cut-out hour makes and small seconds counter that enables sound to pass through with more amplification and resonance. Even the gongs and the two hammers have been reconfigured. They are individually made by hand, are specially shaped and feature an “all or nothing” safety device. Just 50 pieces will be made of this hand-wound Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater.
