You’ve already seen one of the coolest, most capable GMT watches posted on A Timely Perspective for last year’s SIHH, and maybe it made you want to go buy one for yourself — whether it was the looks, or the mechanical capabilities of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time. Now, this watch just got cooler. You may be wondering how that could be. The awesome 3-D looks of this beauty- and all of its technical capabilities, including the famed Dual-Wing system —are still completely relevant, but now it is encased in one of our most favorite metals: 18-karat rose gold.
Nothing is a rich in heritage as rose gold. Of course, when Jaeger-LeCoultre first unveiled this Wow watch at last year’s SIHH, it was in a limited edition of 100 pieces in white gold. Other than looks, what makes this piece so special? For the first time ever in a wristwatch, this watch enables the wearer to adjust the time in the travel time zone to the nearest minute. The complex 498-part caliber 383 houses a Dual-Wing system – meaning it is
divided into two mechanisms: one devoted to displaying local time; the second to show that in a second time zone. Both mechanisms share the regulating organ, but each has its own source of energy so as not to lose seconds during the interaction between the mechanisms. Each mechanism has 50 hours of power reserve. The dial of the watch features a subdial at 2:00 for the hour and minute hand, and the subdial at 10:00 offers the hours and minutes of the world time indication. The very distinctive globe is the day/night indication.
