Easily one of the most beautiful and complex timepieces ever made, the Complication One by Emmanuel Bouchet has been a hot topic among watch collectors around the world. Now, the brand has created a special unique piece for the upcoming Christies’s Important Watches auction on October 19th in Dubai. The special pice is crafted in a polished titanium case and features a stunning blue Lapis Lazuli dial.
The Complication One is the result of years of research and development by master watchmaker Emmanuel Bouchet Complication. The 44mm Complication One watches are powered by the caliber EB-1963, a mechanical, hand-wound movement composed of 485 parts developed exclusively for the timepiece and entirely manufactured in Switzerland.
The complex mechanism is prominently placed on the dial side, with the double escape wheel (with inward teeth) and the anchor offering a striking indication of time flow. The escapement is not only used to regulate time but also directly powers the display of time. It snaps forward every fifteen seconds and poetically “slows down time” enabling the wearer to observe the power delivery throughout the movement. Complication One features jumping hours at 8 o’clock, jumping minutes, and retrograde jumping tens of minutes at 4 o’clock. It is a world first in mechanism and function.
In addition to the unique piece, Emmanuel Bouchet’s Complication One is created in a host of stunning unique designs, with retail prices starting at about $98,000 and up depending on materials. Check out the slide show below for a few of the startlingly elegant pieces.
