Ritmos Mundo’s Blue Quantum II
I love football, or as we Americans call it, soccer. Since I’ve most recently relocated to the greater Los Angeles area, I was really excited to get my hands on some hardware from an official partner of the 2014 MLS Championship team, the LA Galaxy. I was fortunate enough to sport Ritmo Mundo’s blue Quantum II piece which has a mixture of elements that make it very unique in terms function, but more notably fashion.
Let’s tackle function. The Quantum II is powered by a Swiss Ronda 3540.D Chronograph movement. It contains a multifaceted dial equipped with the date, and chronograph totalizer sub dials. One at 9 o’clock recording up to 30 minutes and another at 12 o’clock accurately registering up to 10 hours. The chronograph seconds hand ticks around the main face of the dial with 1/10 of a second precision while the standard-time seconds counter subdial sits at 6 o’clock. All of such functions are controlled buy a pull-out crown piece and two push pieces which start, stop and reset the chronograph. The Quantum II also has a water resistance of 10 ATM along with a blue tachymeter around the bezel of the watch. With the array of functions that this chronograph contains, it is refreshingly easy to use.

Now let’s move to fashion. The Quantum II features a sleek black dial with reflective hash marks at each hour marker which gives it a very polished style and provides you with an easily readable watch face. With ergonomics in mind, Ritmo Mundo also equipped this watch with luminous hour, minute, and sweeping second hands should you need to see the time at night. Up until this point the Quantum II may sound like a majority of affordable chronographs on the market; functionally efficient and ergonomically sound. However, Ritmo Mundo’s unique style and influence on such a technical watch is what sets this watch apart from the rest.
What’s great about this timepiece is that it’s adaptable to a variety of occasions. The Quantum II 50 mm casing is molded out of carbon fiber and hypoallergenic steel giving it this very industrial look. Not to mention the two-toned black and dark blue color scheme mesh into a brilliantly elegant piece. While we see a sleek and stylish makeup, Ritmo Mundo rigged the Quantum II with a very sporty 23 mm double hole silicon strap which alternatively gives this watch an extremely cool and sporty look. As if some sort of balancing act, Ritmo Mundo has effectively made this watch appropriate for all occasions. We know why this watch was aptly part of the 2014 World Cup Collection and why this brand is an official partner of the LA Galaxy. Perhaps wearing this watch to a professional soccer match would be the most pertinent occasion.

As a sports lover, an active athlete, and young professional, the watch covers all the bases. I will point out, that this watch is surprisingly heavy. With that said, it’s not the type of wristwatch that I would wear during a spontaneous pick up soccer game or while out on my morning run. But for as heavy as the Quantum II is, it is extremely comfortable to wear, mainly due to the flexibility of its silicon strap.
So, how does it feel to have the Quantum II on your wrist? To be honest…pretty heavy. But in this case heavy doesn’t mean outrageously expensive.
