This year is shaping up to be an exciting one from a cars-and-watches perspective. Earlier this month we announced the new relationship between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin, and before that TAG Heuer announced its partnership with Porsche — both with racing team involvements. Now, independent watch brand Richard Mille has announced a multi-year agreement with Ferrari.
Most recently Ferrari had a long-term relationship with Hublot, but that ended quietly late in 2020. In fact, Ferrari was one of the first long-term car/watches partner relations back in the late 20th century when the brand partnered with Girard-Perregaux, then run by racer and entrepreneur Gino Macaluso.
Ferrari is easily one of the most iconic automobile brands in the world and has been almost since its founding in 1947 by Enzo Ferrari. The partnership now with Richard Mille makes perfect sense, as it stems from Richard Mille’s vast experience with racing. The new partnership sees Richard Mille backing the Ferrari Driver Academy and being an active supporter of the Ferrari Challenge series.
“Everyone knows Ferrari is an iconic brand with an incredible history, and a true following from the legendary ‘tifosi’ right through to multiple collectors of classic cars,” says Richard Mille. “We see this as a true partnership with multiple developments at its heart of our watches with Ferrari’s designers and engineers. The whole team is thrilled about the collaboration with Ferrari and committed to creating a strong and passionate partnership.’’
Similarly, Mattia Binotto, Managing Director and Team Principal at Scuderia Ferrari, says
“Ferrari and Richard Mille share many common values, from technology to use of similar materials, as well as the passion we put into coming up with and designing our products. Both brands bear the name of their founder and represent their dreams and visions.”
