Ulysse Nardin takes the playful spirit of the monkey to new heights in its rendition of the Year of the Monkey Classico watch. In this design, the artisans at Ulysse Nardin depict the monkey in what it refers to as “comic strip” style, alert, lively and impish as it emerges from palm fronds.
The monkey and the leaves are created via champleve enamel work, wherein cells are carved with a chisel directly on to the dial and then filled with enamel. In this case, the enamel colors are generated from metallic oxides — producing a gold monkey and shimmering fronts. The superb dial is created in-house at the brand’s Donze’ Cadrans dial making workshops. Just 88 pieces in 18-karat rose gold will be made. Each watch is powered by the self-winding UN-815 movement and is a COSC-certified chronometer.
