The horse, Always Dreaming, won the 143rd Kentucky Derby, timed by Longines.
It was an exciting weekend in the world of sports. At the 143rd Kentucky Derby, “Always Dreaming” came out on top in a five-in-a-row winning streak. The horse splashed through the mud at Churchill Downs as though it didn’t’ exist to come up with a 2-3/4 length victory. Always Dreaming ran 1 1/4 miles in 2:03.59 – timed by Longines, the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the Kentucky Derby and of the Triple Crown. Longines awarded the owners, trainer and jockey of Always Dreaming a Longines Conquest Horse Racing watch.

The 41mm Longines Conquest 1/100th Horse Racing measures time to 1/100th of a second. It is powered by quartz L440 Swiss-made movement with a micro-controller with flash memory built into it. This allows the watch to be reset immediately and to record the intermediate times. Water resistant o 300 meters, the sporty chic timepiece sells for $1,600.
Longines will continue to award the winners of the second and third leg of the Triple Crown at each event. Next up is the Preakness at Pimlico in Baltimore on May 20. Additionally, the night before the Preakness, Longines will host an award ceremony dinner to celebrate women in the equestrian world. The Longines Ladies Awards, on Friday May 19 in Washington, D.C., will see four winners being honored.
