The Dubai Watch Week 2017 Creative Hub is marks the third annual event which is open to the public and designed to be informative, educational and product oriented. From creative workshops to new product launches, panel discussions on subjects ranging from spotting counterfeit watches to building a watch wardrobe and more, Dubai Watch Week promises to delight watch lovers from around the globe. The event will be held November 16-20 in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
Unfortunately, this year we here at ATimelyPerspective had to forego attendance at the event — a conflict of far too many press trips — but we want to be sure that our readers are informed. The event, started in 2015 by top watch retailer Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, is dedicated to the watchmaking culture. Collectors, watchmakers and brand executives will be present to interact with one another and to showcase new products.
With a theme of “Classic and Contemporary,” Dubai Watch Week in its new venue promises to offer great workshops. The event also collaborates with Christie’s Auction House, which will outline the intricacies of buying and selling at auction. There will be a virtual experience exhibition, The Mastery of Time, as well. During the Horology Forum, leading watch curators, pioneers, authors, historians, writers, collectors, brands and industry professionals will cover topics from the question of Grand Complications being an all-boys club to the ramifications of Watch Modification.
Additionally, the winning watches from last night’s GPHG Awards will be on display. There is also an exhibit entitled “Telling Time” and curated by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) that will showcase timepieces by artists and designers. The organizers have increased the space dedicated to the event by five times and will host panels, discussions and exhibitions in separate buildings in the front of the Financial Center. There will eve be watchmaking master classes offered.
Held under the Patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, Dubai Watch Week is one of the largest non-commercial events for the international watch community.
