Sea Time: Watches Inspired by Sailing, Yachting, and Diving was written by two of my favorite colleagues: Aaron Sigmond and Mark Bernardo, andis published by Rizzoli New York. it is a comprehensive look at the world of water-inspried watches. The book launched in May, but book signings and unveilings continue as the watch industry makes a splash about this book.
In fact, recently, watch brand Ernst Benz hosted ‘Sea Time’ authors Mark Bernardo, Aaron Sigmond, and Blake Buettner for a book signing & summer celebration. The event took place at the brand’s US boutique in uptown Birmingham in Detroit MI.
SEA TIME also features a foreword by Clive Cussler and essays by several of our esteemed watch cohorts, including James Lamdin of Analog Shift, Xavier Markl of Monochrome, Jacob Sotak, and an Afterword by Blake Buettner.
The hardcover book consists of 240 pages with 150 color and black-and-white photos, with the principal photography by Peter Eaton Gurnz. The book follows the 2016 publication of best-selling DRIVE TIME: Watches Inspired by Automobiles, Motorcycles, and Racing and a 2018 expanded edition.
“From the Rolex Submariner, Omega Seamaster, Panerai Luminor and Blancpain Fifty Fathoms to dive watches by DOXA, Tudor, Patek Philippe and Ulysse Nardin, SEA TIME: Watches Inspired by Sailing, Yachting and Diving takes a pinpoint-periscope look at more than 100 contemporary and vintage nautical-inspired mechanical timepieces.”
SEA TIME offers a comprehensive look into many superb timepieces throughout a century of diving. It explores water resistance and the mysteries of the sea’s tides. Chapters include “The Icons” (the dozen most classic dive watches ever made), “Sailing and Regatta Watches,” “Dive Watches” and a “By the Pool and at the Shore” chapter for those who like things a little less salty.
Sea Time will retail for $85.00.
