James Bond is known for many things: the three digits that accompany his name, his suiting being tailored to the finest of measurements, his car and his watch. From 1995 onwards, Omega (or if you are Daniel Craig Ommeeegaa) has been the essential timepiece for the MI6 operative and in keeping with the legacy, the brand is now offering a brand new Seamaster 300M James Bond Numbered Edition in Platinum Gold. As expected of the storied history the brand shares with the franchise, the piece offers plenty of details any 007 fan is sure to enjoy.
The foundation of the piece is distinctly a Seamaster and offers many iconic aesthetics the line is known for. The case is 42 mm and 50 mm lug to lug. The bezel is ceramic, the indices, helium escape valve and James Bond skeleton hands are all signature design elements. New for Seamaster 300M James Bond Numbered Edition in Platinum Gold is that the case is crafted in platinum-gold with a platinum-gold plate on its side, engraved with each numbered edition number. The buckle of the of the black leather watch strap is also crafted from the same precious metal.
The black ceramic bezel ring has a platinum diving scale in positive relief and the dial of the watch is done in a black enamel with a spiralling gun barrel design in 18k white gold. Anyone who has seen a James Bond movie will instantly recognize the design and be transported to their favourite scene with a quick glance at the time.
Endemic to the Omega James Bond collection that was launched last year, a hidden number 50 within the Super-LumiNova of the 10 o’clock index. The 50 is a reference to the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Service. Fittingly at the 7 o’clock position you will find 007 on the white enamel minute track and the Bond family coat of arms at the 12 o’clock.
The reverse side of the watch reveals a second Bond family coat of arms on a sapphire exhibition back. The coat of arms has been laser engraved and platinum filled. The movement on display is the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807. The piece comes in a super spy worthy Globe-Trotter™ suitcase, bound by NATO-inspired straps and an additional black rubber strap is included. The piece is available now and retails for a $51,900.
