The Overseas, a well-loved collection from Vacheron Constantin, is welcoming a new model that—for the first time—combines a sleek pink gold case and bracelet and a translucent blue lacquered Overseas dial. Unveiled at Watches & Wonders Shanghai 2020, the Overseas Self-winding is at once sporty and elegant and, of course, designed in the spirit of travel—as is the entire collection, which was reinvented with much acclaim in 2016.
The Overseas family leaves no room for an ambiguous identity, with its hexagonal bezel that evokes the Maltese cross. And its nod to travel is in part evident in the interchangeable strap/bracelet system for which the collection is also known.
New Bracelet, Dial for Vacheron Constantin Overseas Pink Gold Watch
This new Overseas Self-winding offers three interchangeable options: an 18-karat pink gold bracelet, a lined and hand-stitched blue alligator leather strap and a blue rubber strap. In other words, choose your activity and choose the perfect complement for office, play or poolside. The interchangeable straps feature 18-karat pink gold buckles, while the polished and brushed bracelet is secured by a 18-karat pink gold triple-blade folding clasp.
The three-hand Overseas self-winding features a dial that is at once sporty and starkly elegant, displaying little interruption in the enjoyment of the flawless lacquer, with its sunburst satin-brushed center, circular satin-finished flange and velvet-finished minute circle. The dial reads simply, “Vacheron Constantine/Geneve” below the emblematic Maltese Cross at 12 o’clock. The gold hour markers and hour and minute hands are coated in white luminescent material for easy reading in low light, and the date aperture is both unobtrusive and eminently readable at 3 o’clock.
What Powers the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Self-Winding watch
The 41mm case is 11mm thick, and the soft iron casing ring is designed for anti-magnetic protection. A screwed-down crown helps to insure water resistance to approximately 150 meters. The sapphire crystal caseback is an inviting window to the soul of the watch: the Manufacture 5100. This artfully decorated movement, developed and manufactured by Vacheron Constantin, is 30.6mm in diameter and 4.7mm thick. It features a 22-karat gold oscillating weight, embellished with a wind rose—a recognizable symbol of travel. The 37-jewel, 172-component movement offers 60 hours of power reserve. The new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Self-winding watch answers the call of many Overseas lovers who wanted that pink gold bracelet look. It retails for $46,200.
Interestingly, the Overseas pink gold dual time and pink gold chronograph models may also be fitted with the Maltese Cross-inspired gold bracelet offered on this model (available in Vacheron Constantin boutiques and points of sale). As such, owners of those watches have the opportunity to avail themselves of a little extra versatility.
