This week, the brand that has the attention of the adventurers, hikers and newbie watch collectors (as well as long-time watch collectors, G-Shock launches s new series of watches that include three outdoors-inspired pieces. The cases are cool, slim (well, slimmer than G-Shock’s norm) and rugged. They boast the brand’s top-rated and much-sought-after features like a Carbon Core Guard Structure, which enhances the overall strength of the watches and eliminates the need for pushbutton guards.
Without a collection name, the watches – like the finest Patek Philippe pieces – are all assigned Reference numbers – all in the GA2200 family. All of the watches offer tl updated technical features such as double LED super illuminated markers and hands, five alarms with one snooze factor, world time indication, three-year battery life, interchangeable straps, integrated bezels, oversized buttons and more. In short, everything you expect from a G-Shock watch geared for out door use.
The GA2200BB-1A, GA2200M-1A, and GA2200M-4A feature striking colors ranging from the all black GA2200BB-1A, to the black and gray with metallic turquoise accents GA2200M-1A, and the bright orange GA2200M-4A. Maybe the best part of the new watches is their enriched three-dimensional dial. There is an inset dial indicator, inspired by automotive brake discs. The indicator is enclosed in a semi-circular ring. Both parts are treated using a vapor deposition finish that yields a metallic look reminiscent of outdoor gear. The parts are highlighted on the dial using a 3D effect and a digital display in the lower right corner of the dial offers a diagonal separation — further enhancing the unusual look of the dial.
Two of the models retail for a highly affordable price of $120, while the GA2200M-4A sells for $130. The watches are out and available his month.
