It was in November of 2019 that Corum Watch brand made a bold move by signing American racecar driver Hanna Zellers on as an official Friend of the brand. Bold because up until that point, Corum’s main relationships in the sporting world were predominantly in sailing with its Admiral collection. Bold, also, because the brand opted to sign a woman brand ambassador instead of a man. Well, that decision looks like it is paying off. Zellers, who started racing go-karts at the age of six, will be racing in the 2022 International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) Prototype Challenge this year.
The IMSA Prototype Challenge marks the 17th season of the IMSA Lites series and its subsequent offshoots and is the sixth to carry the IMSA Prototype Challenge name. The season begins January 21 at Daytona International Speedway with the IMSA Roar Before The Rolex 24 event and then goes on to Ohio, Canada and Virginia before ending in Atlanta on October 1. Apparently, Ave Motorsports is fielding two racecars in the season, and Corum is a backer.
While the complete driver lineup is not yet finalized, Hanna Zellers is in. She participated in the 2018 version of the race (as well as many other sports car series), and says she is excited to be returning in 2022. “I am beyond excited to make my return to the IMSA Prototype Challenge,” says Zeller. “I feel like I have so much more to accomplish, and I’m ready for the challenge.”
Similarly, Corum Vice President North America & Caribbean, Richard Louis, says “We are extremely excited for Hanna to demonstrate her incredible performance on the track as she represents Corum.”
Zellers wears a Corum Admiral 38 while racing and off the tracks. Her watch of choice boasts a two-tone blue mother-of-pearl dial and white gold toned nautical pennants as markers. Her car and jumpsuit sport Corum logos.
