Swiss watch brand Maurice Lacroix has been named the Official Timekeeper of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour where tams of three players compete in 10-minute battles without breaks. The basketball competition is all about concentration and deciding whether to pass, shoot or dunk. Extreme skill, precision and timing are keys to success in this game. And in Maurice Lacroix watchmaking.
The game — a street competition that has gone professional and global — is just another Maurice Lacroix timing endeavor. The brand’s recent activities include partnerships with Mahindra Racing, King of the Court and Red Bull Dance Your Style.
In its role as Official Timekeeper, Maurice Lacroix will time the minutes and even the 12-second shot clock. “These professional athletes are at the top of their game. They cover the court with incredible alacrity. Pass or shoot, there’s a 12-second shot-clock, indecision is not an option. Precision and timing are essential for success.”
The first FIBA 3×3 World Tour event of the season will take place in Utsunomiya, Japan on the 14th and 15th May on a basketball half-court. The 3×3 is so exciting that it made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games and is now an Olympic sport.
