Citizen creates the Thin Line collection watches that honor first responders. The series includes watches whose black dials are accented with a line of color appropriate to the heroes who put their lives on the line every day to help and save others: Red (fire fighters), Blue (police officers) or White (medical professionals).
These watches, and a military version, are sold in a special commemorative boxed set with a flag engraved on the leather with the appropriate first-responder’s color. It also features a gold-toned metal card with the name of the responder engraved on it. For the military version, the set includes a coin.
There are two sizes of each Thin White Line, Thin Blue Line and Thin Red Line. And they are sold on a stainless steel bracelet. The larger 42mm size Thin Red Line™ watch is a chronograph that is water resistant to 200 meters and is driven by Citizen’s proprietary Eco Drive caliber that is solar-powered. It boasts a tachymeter scale for measuring speed and a date window. The case backs can be engraved, as well.
The smaller 36mm watch boasts Swarovski® crystals on the dial and is crafted in stainless steel. It is water resistant to 50 meters and its subsidiary dials showcase the day of the week, and the date. There is also a 24 hour indication. Retail prices are approximately $295.
Recently, we went hands-on with a Thin Blue Line(TM) watch. It is a lot of watch for the money and has such a significant meaning — a tribute to so many people who are rarely thanked for their heroic efforts — that one can’t help but feel proud to wear or gift one of these watches.
