Just recently, at NEUE Galarie, Museum for German and Austrian Art, A. Lange & Sohne celebrated its legacy of the Lange 1 family – a particularly exciting event, as this year the brand launched three new Lange 1 timepieces: the Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar, the new Grande Lange 1, and the Lange 1 Time Zone with luminous indications.
The event was rather unique, as it featured a private viewing of famed artist Gustav Klimt and the 150th anniversary exhibition of his work. Also to celebrate this night of art and fine watchmaking, Lange brought in watchmaking demonstrations, and encouraged guests to partake in a variety of watchmaking processes from removing miniscule screws of the movement, to the in-depth and surprisingly time-consuming task of diamond-polishing individual parts that make up the movement.
Naturally, the wonderful Lange 1 timepieces were on display. Of particular note, since it was the watch’s first debut in the US market, was the all-new Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar. This superlative watch is the first automatic tourbillon from Lange, with the tourbillon escapement not visible from the dial side, and offering an unusual readout for the perpetual calendar. It is a definitive beauty, worthy of being on display in this museum.
