Last night in Las Vegas before the start of the Couture and JCK shows, we went zip-lining with 2(X)ist. Afterward, we joined award winning product and transportation designer, Jason Wilbur, as he unveiled his newest timepiece venture with 2 (X)ist. Hot on the heels of his previous creation — the made in USA Devon Tread 1 watch – the new 2(X)ist NYC watch is created in Wilbur’s typical bold spirit and takes cues from the men’s undergarment company whose name it bears.
“I have always been inspired by the rule-breakers, the pioneers. I grew up in New York and saw this rebel spirit all around me in the form of crazy architecture or the graffiti artists on the subway,” says Wilbur. “New York is three-dimensional, not only in form but spiritually. So for this watch I wanted to create a product that captures the DNA of NYC and the amazing people that make their statement there.”
Just like the metropolis that inspired it, the NYC is architecturally striking. The 3-D NYC 44mm watch features a 6-part case and two watch crystals that enable a see-through appeal with numerals that appear to float on the dial. It houses a Miyota Movement and features a signature crown protector. The watch models are available in a variety of colors and alternative materials, including: Stainless steel, ABS, Gunmetal and Aluminum. Retail at approximately $495.
