It was in October of 1994 that A. Lange & Sohne unveiled the Lange 1 watch. The epitome of the German brand’s style elements and technical prowess, the Lange 1 turns 25 this year and still remains a coveted timepiece in all of its newest iterations thanks to the asymmetric dial and strong personality. In fact, it was on October 24, 1994 that A. Lange & Sohne founder Walter Lange, along with watch industry great Gunter Blumlein, presented the first watches of the newly reopened brand to the world at the Dresden Palace. Now, to celebrate this quarter-of-a-century event, A. Lange & Sohne unveils the LANGE 1 “25th Anniversary” jubilee watch.

Created in a limited edition of just 250 pieces in 18-karat white gold, the new icon features an argent’ silver dial with stunning deep-blue numerals, date and accents. It naturally is equipped with the brand’s renowned outsize date and is powered by an in-house-made mechanical caliber. The manually wound calibre L121.1 introduced in 2015 includes a precisely jumping outsize date display and a freely oscillating Lange balance spring. Paired with a large cam-poised balance, it assures superb rate accuracy. It features a twin mainspring barrel with a power reserve of 72 hours, as well as the three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver, eight screwed gold chatons, and the hand-engraved balance cock.

The LANGE 1 “25th Anniversary” has another prominent feature: the engraved hinged cuvette crafted from solid white gold. The engraving depicts the Lange headquarters that date back to 1873, and features the names of Walter Lange and Günter Blümlein, and a relief engraving of the inscription “25 YEARS LANGE 1”. The watch retails for 43,700 Euro or approximately $50,100.
