After a wonderful flight yesterday in a luxury private jet from LaGuardia airport to Martha’s Vineyard, where we toured the Vineyard, Alpina unveiled its exciting new affordably priced Startimer Pilot’s collection of timepieces – and they are something to look at and wear! In fact, the automatic watches, ranging from an amazing $2,595 to $2,795, and $10,900 for the solid 18-karat rose gold version, enable watch enthusiasts who always wanted a luxury pilot’s watch but couldn’t afford one to jump on the proverbial jet wagon here. Inspired by pilot watches built in the 1920s and 30’s by the brand, the new collection offers four variations.
Crafted in Alpina’s state-of-the-art factory in Geneva and housing factory-built mechanical movements, the collection consists of a three-hand date automatic, an in-house developed and produced automatic with minute, hour and date; a regulator, and a powerful chronograph– each offered with either leather strap or superb bracelets. Cool packaging, too, as the watches come in a luxurious box presented alongside a Cessna Citation Mustang scale model in PrivatAir livery (thanks to a three-year agreement between Alpina, Cessna Aviation and PrivatAir). Stay tuned for more info on this series shortly.
