OK men, I know you don’t really like to read about women’s watches, so we have devised a plan. We will let you – and those women who read ATImelyPerspective — in on it: We have a sister site called Watch Seduction. On it, we cover women’s watches — only women’s watches — and accessories. It is a “by women/for women” site. Typically, we wouldn’t cross over with the women’s news onto these pages, but this story warrants a bit of a cross-over mainly because this is a big year for Baume & Mercier.
Earlier this year, the brand released its tourbillon — we discussed whether or not that was good idea here. Additionally, it has expanded and rounded out many of its star collections, including Clifton and Hampton. Now, the brand launches an all-out, made-exclusively for women line: Promesse. Hold on – though — this is not just an existing series slimmed down. No- this is one the brand put five years of effort behind. It is an incredible blend of vision and history, of beauty and modernity.
To launch the collection, Baume & Mercier rented out the magnificent Gotahm Hall in New York, and set a stage like we have rarely seen. Even Madmen actress Jessica Pare attended and talked about Promesse. Guests were encouraged to write a wish and to hang a lock onto a wall of locks that symbolize relationships and promises. We encourage you to read the entire story on WatchSeduction about the making of Promesse, the meaning behind the line, and the watches within it. You can do so by clicking here.
