Watch collectors around the world are familiar with the term Panda when it comes to chronograph watches. It typically defines a white background with black subsidiary dials (panda eyes) and the reverse Panda is just what it sounds like: black dial, white subsidiary dials. Now, though, IWC Schaffhausen brings one of the watch world’s most beloved colors – blue—to the forefront with two new Portugieser watches in blue Panda style.
Both the Portugieser Automatic and the Portugieser Chronograph are crafted in stainless steel with white polished lacquer dials and sea-colored blue subsidiary dials and color-coordinated railway track chapter rings. Even the numerals, markers and hands are blue for beautiful contrast against the white dials and for a great color-coordinated appeal.

On the 42.3mm Automatic watch, the subdials showcase the small seconds hand at 9:00, and the power reserve display at 3:00. The watch is powered by the brand’s manufacture 52010 caliber with Pellaton winding system and seven days of power reserve. Ceramic components make the watch movement more wear-and-tear resistant. The caliber, and its rotor, can be viewed from the transparent case back. The horizontal layout of the subsidiary dials, and the blue alligator leather strap endow this watch with a stylish urban appeal. It retails for $13,100.

The 41mm Portugieser Chronograph is powered by the IWC-made 69355 caliber and is sold with a blue rubber strap to further define its sporty chic appeal. The movement showcases the chronograph minutes at 12:00 and the small seconds at 6:00 for a beautiful vertically oriented display. The movement is a classic column-wheel caliber with 46 hours of power reserve. This watch retails for a cool $8,400.
