OK folks, get your wallets out. Today — June 19 — is National Watch Day. That’s right … National Watch Day. I believe its origin lies with Nordstrom, which — about four years ago — coined the term. While the original concept was to celebrate the history and design of watchmaking, it was truly most likely to sell more watches in a season geared for dads and grads. Somehow the day made it to the Registrar at National Day Calendar in 2017 — making it an official “thing.”
Watch lovers and collectors, though, celebrate their watches every day. In fact, there are a host of collector societies out there — like RedBar Crew — that meet on a weekly basis to talk watches — and often whiskey. But, if you are not a watch collector – just a novice, you may not know how to celebrate National Watch Day. It’s simple: Pick out your favorite watch and buy it a box of chocolates, or bring it flowers. Better yet, wear it. Even better, buy it a watch.
