Yesterday in Singapore, Vacheron Constantin unveiled a host of complicated Cabinotiers watches — all under the theme of La Musique Du Temps. In total there are six new music of time watches — each extraordinary and alluring for a variety of reasons. As is the tradition at Vacheron Constantin, the Les Cabinoitiers timepieces are all unique, one-of-a-kind watches. Here we take a quick look at three of these masterpieces, but expect a fuller review of each, as well as a complete review of the others, coming soon.

“The Les Cabinotiers minute repeater perpetual calendar is equipped with a revisited movement, the 1731 QP caliber, which combines a minute repeater and perpetual calendar at the heart of an extremely slim white or pink gold case. For the watchmakers of the Maison, the challenge was to associate two of the most sophisticated complications within a movement measuring just 5.70 mm thick, while ensuring precision, reliability and user friendliness.” The manual-wind caliber consists of 438 components, and offers hours, minutes, day, date, month, leap-year indication, moon phase and minute repeater – while maintaining a 65-hour power reserve.

“Les Cabinotiers Symphonia grande sonnerie – The sixth symphony meets a double requirement consisting in making a supreme complication movement – comprising 727 parts that takes 500 hours of assembly to fit within a 37 mm diameter – that is as easy to use as it is perfectly secure. The bi-directional manual-winding calibre with two barrels, one delivering 72 hours of power reserve and the other 20 hours of strikework power reserve, is thus equipped with innovative security systems that protect its striking mechanisms. The latter are controlled by the bezel for the grande and petite sonnerie and by a push-piece housed in the crown for the minute repeater. To ensure a perfectly regular sequence of strikes on the monobloc goings, Vacheron Constantin’s master watchmakers have succeeded in eliminating the “phantom quarters”, meaning the short silences generally perceptible between the hours and minutes struck by a repeater. For the sake of excellence, the calibre is also equipped with a non-dragging surprise jumper, a mechanism enabling accurate strikes on full hours and quarters. “Embodying an extremely original combination within the world of horological complications, the Les Cabinotiers Minute repeater tourbillon sky chart – A celestial note watch combines several forms of watchmaking expertise. Incorporating a tourbillon regulator, a minute repeater reflecting the noble tradition of Vacheron Constantin chiming watches and a rotating map of the celestial vault, this one-of-a-kind double-sided model features a rare degree of complexity. At the heart of its 18K 5N gold case measuring 45 mm in diameter and just 15.1 mm thick beats Calibre 2755 TMRCC. This 413-part manual-winding movement operates at the rate of 18,000 vibrations/ hour, a frequency typical of traditional watchmaking, while enjoying a 58-hour power reserve. The timekeeping indications are displayed on the front, including small seconds on the tourbillon carriage adorned with a Maltese Cross, while the back of the watch provides a striking view of the Milky Way and the constellations performing a complete rotation in 23 hour and 56 minutes, corresponding to sidereal time. The sliding bolt housed in the case middle suggests the presence of a minute repeater.”
