In January 2014, the Salon de Haute Horlogerie International (SIHH) opens its doors once again. At this by-invitation-only watch exhibition, fewer than 20 top brands will showcase their newest creations. Now, we begin to see a small sneak-peek of what’s to come. This introduction is one of many you can expect to find in the coming month here so stay tuned.
From Baume & Mercier, the seventh oldest Swiss watchmaker, newness joins the celebrated Clifton line of timepieces. Inspired by the brand’s archives in general, and the golden 50’s period in particular, the Clifton line has made enormous strides since its unveiling not even a full year ago.
Now, the brand adds three self-winding Clifton chronographs to the vintage line. Each watch – which will make its official debut in January at SIHH — is a 43mm steel cased piece with sun satin-finished silver dial that will be available around the world in retail stores in April 2014. Each
chronograph offers day/date indication and features sapphire caseback for viewing the self-winding mechanical ETA 7750 movement. The three versions include one with blue hands and a black alligator strap, one with rose-gold hued hands and digits on a stainless steel bracelet, and a similar model offered on a brown alligator strap. The strap versions sell for $3,900, while the bracelet model retails for $4,200. Like all Baume & Mercier timepieces, the value to quality ratio is superb and these watches warrant an up-close and personal look.
