Move over men, this one is for the women. Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils three exquisite new Rendez-Vous Sonatina watches that celebrate nature in all its beauty. Just eight pieces of each of the three versions will be made because of the intense craftsmanship that goes into each piece. Each watch is an expression of floral beauty, with orchids and butterflies crated using Metiers Rares — Rare Handcrafts.
Orchids are a symbol of beauty and grace and have been cultivated in China for more than 3,000 years. Butterflies are believed to represent metamorphosis, hope and life. So turning to these two symbols — against a stunning guilloche’ mother-of-pearl backdrop –makes perfect sense. Each 18-karat pink gold watch features a bezel set with diamonds and an inner ring of diamonds on the dial that surrounds the Metiers d’Arts micro-painting.
The dials are engraved with a wavy guilloché motif and then are tinted in pale pink, lavender or green. Also on the oval diamond ring that encapsulates the intriguing painting, is a star that can be set via a second crown to mark the time of a special Rendezvous. When that time arrives, the watch sounds a melodious chime to remind the wearer of that special moment. The watch also offers Night and Day indication. In total the watch is set with 160 diamonds weighing 1.86 carats.
The beauty of the 38.2mm watches is underscored with a mechanical movement inside. The Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Manufacture Calibre 735 self-winding movement powers the watch. The movement was developed specially for the Sonatina and is equipped with 40 hours of power reserve. It is visible via a transparent sapphire caseback. Each watch is finished with a color-coordinated alligator strap with a shiny pearl finish. The watches are water resistant to 5 bar. They retail for $95,500.
Jaeger-LeCoultre typically issues special editions of the Rendez-Vous Sonatina, and they have become quite sought after by discerning women. In fact the entire Rendez-Vous collection has become a pillar for the brand since its unveiling seven years ago in 2012. Then, the brand turned to its ambassador Diane Kruger to help launch the line. Since then, Jaeger-LeCoultre has continually unveiled special editions, including gemstone-dial versions, gemset models, Metiers d’ Arts and much more. The newest Rendez-Vous Sonatina pieces celebrating nature’s beauty are a Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique exclusive.
