Watch brands have aligned themselves with various sports and hobbies for decades, but easily one of the fastest-growing fields is the world of automobiles, where sleek design, ultra lightweight materials, and close attention to precision timing are at the forefront. Now, several top watch brands take a closer look at auto inspirations and unveil sleek new car-inspired watches.
At the upcoming BaselWorld 2016 exhibition, Oris turns the spotlight onto its relationship with Williams F1 team. Paying tribute to Formula 1, Oris unveils the new Williams Engine, Date watch with a highly technical design. The new Oris Williams Engine Date’s 42 mm brushed and polish stainless steel case stays true to the collection’s style, while its two-piece dial marks a shift in focus. This part-skeletonized dial reveals a section of the anthracite automatic movement underneath – giving the onlooker a glimpse of the watch’s mechanical engine. The timepiece features an Oris Caliber 733 automatic movement, which can also be seen –with its distinctive red rotor — through the transparent case back. On the inner dial, numerals seen on the minute track are arranged horizontally to mimic that of the instrument panel on a Williams Formula 1 car. The horizontal theme continues with the two Arabic numerals located at 3 and 9 o’clock, while the rest of the dial remains clear. The central seconds hand and the 6 o’clock date window are marked in Williams blue. The Oris Williams Engine, Date watch is available on either a rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet.
Stay tuned all week as we zoom in on some of the new models via a Fast Focus lens.
Nice review. Not much is known about this model from what I’ve read online. I hope to get my hands on one and write a review on my blog as well at http://www.watchreviewblog.com
