As the concept of affordable timing takes on new meaning during the recession, most watch lovers look to timepieces that retail for less than $5,000. Many also want highly functional sport watches that can accompany them on their adventures. TAG Heuer has the answer with its great new Aquaracer GMT. Crafted in stainless steel with a terrific brushed blue dial with bold linear motif, the watch features a GMT function making it as useful as it is good looking. The GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) feature allows for reading of a second time zone, and it is easily adjusted using the crown. That second zone can be read via the lacquered blue hand pointing to the 24-hour time scale on the bezel. That bezel, by the way, is also striking in its black-and-blue format.
Because it is part of the Aquaracer series of dive watches, the GMT is water resistant to 300 meters and is equipped with all six of the standard diving features in addition to ultra water resistance. It boasts a unidirectional rotating bezel, white Super-LumiNova(R) hands and markers, a screw-down crown, a double security clasp, and a sapphire crystal. The markers are extra large in order to facilitate easy reading in the dark. The Super-LumiNova gives off a bright blue/green color under water. Even the date is enhanced for easy readability by an added cyclops window over it.
The watch is powered by the brand’s Calibre 7 automatic movement that offers 46 hours of power reserve in addition to hours, minutes, seconds, date and 24-hour GMT function. The fine-brushed and polished 43mm case is finished with a matching polished steel bracelet with folding clasp. The TAG Heuer Aquaracer GMT retails for $3,050.
