Ambiance at the Pebble Beach Lodge
Car lovers are a lot like watch fanatics. In fact, most don’t reserve themselves to just one or the other. Linked by a love for mechanical motions and historic styles, the preservation of these pieces remains important in passing along such traditions to future generations. Here to lend hand in doing so is California’s Monterey Classic Car Week.

This exquisite event was first held in 1950 and is divided into multiple different events (with four sponsored by Rolex) dedicated to an atmosphere rooted in the inherent virtues of the automobiles of the past. Yesterday kicked off with hundreds of car owners who entered in an 88 mile round trip drive to Big Sur and back in what is called the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance. Not only is the drive perhaps one of the most scenic in the country but seeing these automobiles drive by is like seeing history in motion. In a sense taking those fortunate enough to attend back to the days of old.

The rest of the weekend includes features such as The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, where entrants attempt to win the coveted Rolex Best In Show. The following day, August 15th, showcases the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Rounding out the weekend on the customary third Sunday of August is the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where hundreds of classic cars and motorcycles line up on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach’s famed golf course to exhibit the grandest automobiles to date.
The entire weekend highlights some of the most prestigious and historic cars that ever graced the freeways including models from famous manufacturers such as Jaguar, Maserati, Porsche and Aston Martin. However, to see these cars on a fairway is one thing. It becomes much more emotional to see them in motion doing what they were made to do, amaze.
