Storage Wars winners Baselworld 2017: Louis Moinet, MB&F, Manufacture Royale.
This year marks the fifth year we have written about our favorite USB keys dispensed by brands at the top shows. Earlier in the year we brought you a look at the winning storage sticks from the January SIHH exhibition. Now, we take a look at the winners of the Baselworld 2017 exhibition. Because most of the brands embed their valuable product information and images into these storage devices — they naturally want you to take notice of the key. Well, at least some brands do. Let’s face it == if you are into storage keys — there are some pretty impressive ones out there. In fact, i have at least two to three from each year for the past five years gracing my office shelves. Those who use the ho-hum simple sticks — sorry, you are not in here. Nor are those brands who give out a business card with a printed website directing writers where to look for the information. (These are of particular dislike to me.)
Space, the moon, and astronomy were strong themes at Baselworld 2017, and MB&F and Louis Moinet embrace the spirit in their USB keys.

So, who won this year? Well, the answers may surprise you. The most innovative USB keys came from some of the most innovative brands — all independent watch brands.
Louis Moinet — a winner in this year’s selection of great USB keys — surprises and delights us with the spaceship-like sterling silver rocket that is designed to emulate the brand’s theme at Baselworld: time travel and exploration in space.
MB&F once again offers fun and whimsy with the rubber-molded likeness of one of its favorite new timepieces. In this case, the USB key emulates the tiny magnetic man, Neil, who climbs the ladder of the brand’s newest space clock created in cooperations with L’Epee’: Destination Moon.
Finally, Manufacture Royale, whose booth theme this year revolved around the prerennial garden, offers a three-dimensional rubber daisy USB, whose stem pulls out to reveal the key port.

Of course, as of our last few installations of Storage Wars, we did select a few runners up. Those somewhat more classical renditions include: Breguet, which presents its crystal and wood USB stick inside a nice wooden keepsake box; Eterna, whose leather encased/magnetic closure USB resembles (and could potentially be used as) a money clip; Corum, whose rubber USB stick features a bright green ball-shaped base that reflects the big bubble dome of the brand’s iconic Bubble watch.
