Green is the in color these days for a host of watch brands. Some say they are inspired by the blue/green seas. Others say they’re motivated by the khaki tones of military and yet others say they’re inspired by the great outdoors. In reality, green-dial watches cry out for the right person to wear them. The color is bold and magnificent — commanding attention from across a crowded room. It oozes self-confidence. As such, savvy watch collectors are seeking green, and brands are answering the call. TAG Heuer is one of them.
The brand has just unveiled two new bold green-dial Aquaracer watches for him and her. Each of these pieces is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, luminescent hands and markers, a double security clasp, and a sapphire crystal. Designed for use when diving, both are water resistant to 300 meters.
The 43 mm Aquaracer boasts an eye-catching design motif of horizontal lines that cross the dial in a way that recalls the wooden docks where sailboats are moored. There is a date window at 3 o’clock on the dial, and the numerals on the bezel are filled in with black lacquer, as is the triangle marker at 12 o’clock. It is powered by the Caliber 5 Automatic movement and offered in a steel case with bracelet. The watch retails for $2,250.
The smaller 32mm Aquaracer features a sunray green dial without the lines. Instead, it is adorned with elegant diamond hour markers. There is a date window at 3 o’clock on the dial and a triangle marker at 12 o’clock on the bezel for optimal readability. Powered by a quartz movement, it is crafted in steel and finished with a supple steel bracelet. It retails for $2,150.
Both watches feature bracelets with diving extensions with steel folding clasp with double safety pushbuttons.
