This year, 2021, marks the 40th anniversary of Tonino Lamborghini S.p.A. Style and Accessories company. It was started by second-generation of the Lamborghini dynasty, Tonino Lamborghini, when he was looking to create newly designed products that embraced the spirit of Italian design and boasted the Lamborghini family story. The luxury company created sunglasses, leather goods, and so much more, including watches. In fact, today, the Tonino Lamborghini watches are designed in Italy and made in Switzerland — and are finally available in the US market. The watches run across several collections and boast industrial designs that deftly blend bold watchmaking with racecar inspired aesthetics.
Today, under the vigilant eye of third-generation Ferruccio Lamborghini as CEO, the brand’s timepieces continue to push design limits. Among its watch collections: the Spyder, a shield-shaped watch inspired by the brand’s Miura raging bull emblem. In fact, Ferruccio has created eight distinct timepiece lines that are all about audacity, fearless pioneering and a bold daring that stands out in a crowd.
The Cuscinetto series of today is inspired by the first watch collection that made its debut in 1983. The round timepiece takes its name from the mechanical ball bearing (called cuscinetto in Italian). The new interpretation features a bi-directional rotating bezel and is crafted in titanium with Torx® screws. It also house a new automatic movement and is offered in multiple color ways, including titanium with black dial and red accents, a blacked DLC titanium with black dial and tan-hued accents, a black, and blue version and a rose-gold colored version.
Taking the Cuscinetto a bit further, the Cuscinetto R version is inspired by the racing world and features a skeletonized movement without dial to enable a full view of the movement. There are also four different color ways being offered.
The Spyder Leggero Skeleton watch may well be one of the most exciting collections from the brand. It is an evolution of the Spyder, the brand’s best-seller that was introduced in 2007. It features a shield case shape and boasts the Raging Bull logo. He watch is the result of high-tech engineering, keen ergonomics research and high-tech materials such as anticorodal aluminium.
Tonino Lamborghini naturally recognizes the need for speed and timing of racing, and so also offers the SpyderLeggero Chrono – a chronograph version with day and date complication. The case sides feature rubberized accents and bold pushers.
As mentioned, these Spyder Leggero watches are inspired by the Spyder collection that has also evolved over the years. The newest piece features a three-dimensional appeal, with layered dials and subsidiary dials made of high-tech carbon fiber. The versions, all crafted in DLC blacked titanium, are reminiscent of the race car colors, with black dial with either racing red, bright yellow, blue or white hands, markers and accents .The Spyder X features a honeycomb pattern on the dial. The GT1 series features a blackened steel case and offers subsidiary dials in engine-style gauge format. Not quite round and not quite cushion shaped, the watches have a unique look to them. There is also a Panfilo Diver watch series.
Tonino Lamborghini also offers additional straps for its various models in a host of colors and materials that include leather, rubber and more. Movements are either Swiss quartz or automatics and prices are incredibly aggressive when it comes to a strong value proposition. Watch lovers can experience this brand hands on at the upcoming Las Vegas Couture show in August.
