A Swiss watch brand teaming with a luxury brand that makes iSUP (inflatable stand up paddle boards)? It may be a watch world first, but it is definitely a think now thanks to Ulysse Nardin and Beau Lake.
Recently, we have witnessed an incredible uptick in the watch world of brands teaming with other brands outside of the typical fields. Sure, there have been partnerships between the automotive and watch worlds for years, for example, but the move to other related categories such as fashion and lifestyle is a relatively young trend. It is also becoming increasingly creative. Swiss watch brand Ulysse Nardin, for instance, has teamed with Canadian waterside luxury brand Beau Lake and the result is an $11,900 package consisting of a watch and even a custom-made inflatable stand up paddleboard (iSUP).
It is not out of the ordinary for Ulysse Nardin to look to the world of water for a watch collaboration. After all, the brand has a rich nautical history that dates back almost to its roots. Additionally, it supports all sorts of ocean-related causes, including the study of sharks and preservation of clean water. Now, though, it takes its love of water to new depths – one that targets a new customer – with the partnership with Beau Lake.
Beau Lake makes luxury gear for water lovers, particularly iSUPs. As such, the collaboration bears rich rewards: a limited-edition water package that includes a new Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronometer 44mm watch with the Beau Lake logo on it and a luxury iSUP with Ulysse Nardin’s logo. Just 100 sets will be made, each retailing for $11,900.
The Ulysse Nardin 44mm dive watch is crafted in light-weight blue PVD (physical vapor deposition) titanium and boasts a concave unidirectional rotating bezel for diving. Water resistant to 300 meters, the watch is powered by the Caliber UN-118 Manufacture mechanical movement. The caliber is anti-magnetic and equipped with a high-tech escapement made of Silicium and proprietary DIAMonSil. It offers hours, minutes, seconds, date and power-reserve indication. It is finished with a blue rubber strap perfect for water sports and has the Beau Lake logo on a titanium accent plate.
The Beau Lake iSUP, an item that, like the watch, is all about performance, is created using marine-grade PVC and a newly developed double-layer drop stitch fusion technology. The nautical paddleboard is lighter and stronger than in the past thanks to the high-tech process and materials. The board, the fin, and the leash are all co-branded. The board weighs just 10 pounds and is 11 feet long and 34”inches wide (and 6 inches high when inflated).
Completing the package is a co-branded triple-action pump for inflating the board, a collapsible carbon fiber paddle, and a repair kit. They are packed in an elegant, yet robust travel bag equipped with wheels and shoulder straps.
