Not too long ago, a young watch brand emerged on the scene: Reservoir. This Swiss-made brand has a very distinctive look thanks to the fact that all of the watches feature jumping hours and retrograde minutes rather than offering the typical two hands on the dial. Having joined forces with a top Swiss watchmaker, Reservoir offers timepieces in three distinct collections: cars, aeronautics and marine. Here we bring you a closer look at couple of the brand’s top watches.
All Reservoir watches house a 97-part proprietary patented module that is powered by the ETA 2824-2 movement, widely acclaimed for its reliability and precision, oscillating at 28800/h. Every watch also offers 34 hours of power reserve. The 240-degree retrograde minute indication recalls rev counters, manometers and the altimeters, while the jumping hour is reminiscent of kilometer counters, and the power reserve display echoes the fuel and oil gauges.

Reservoir Swiss Made GT Tour 371 SE watch is designed to emulate the automotive spirit with gauge-like dials and bold colors. The mechanical automatic movement, caliber 2824-2, is equipped with the afore-mentioned proprietary module featuring another 97 components that enables it to display the time via a red-orange retrograde minute hand and a jumping hour at 6:00 that emulates a fuel gauge. The power reserve indicator beneath the jumping hour recalls the RPM gauges. This 43mm model is crafted in black PVD 316L stainless steel with a matte finish, and, as with all Reservoir watches, is fitted with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The bold black dial with orange accents is complemented by a black perforated leather strap with red/orange stitching for true auto-inspired appeal. Even better is the fact that the watch is water resistant to 5 ATM and features a screw-down crown. A portion of the case-back is fitted with a transparent crystal. This watch retails for a cool $3,410.

For those who like a totally different type of auto-inspired look — perhaps something a bit more vintage — the Reservoir Tiefenmesser Bronze watch with white dial and rich color accents in red and blue is a great choice. Retailing for a slightly higher price, at $3,730, the Tiefenmesser displays time via a jump hour and retrograde minute hand, however in this watch, the power-reserve indication is depicted using circles that turn from white to red instead of using a fuel-gauge style.. The 43mm case is crafted in solid bronze with a satin finish. This watch is finished with a vintage-style brown leather strap for classic appeal, but with auto-inspired red racing stitch accents.
The auto-inspired watches are our favorites from Reservoir Watches, but the aviation-inspired pieces are a close second. The watches seem solid, well-made and focus on design, as well as aesthetics. These watches are for those who enjoy something different.
