Last night, we spent several hours at New York’s Museum of Natural History at an elegant charity event hosted by TAG Heuer. Initially, I was
adverse to going to this event, as I felt that with all the hurricane clean-up to be done, it wasn’t necessarily the right time for a party. I was wrong and, in the end, was happy I attended — as it gave a few minutes out to breathe and understand that others in the world are offering their support.
In fact, the TAG Heuer “Link” Hope and Glamour event brought together Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio
(both brand ambassadors) in a gala unveiling of the brand’s newest LINK collection of watches and in support of UN Women (one of Diaz’s personal choice charities) and NY CARES’ Hurricane Sandy Relief effort.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Their resiliency in the face of such adversity is a true inspiration…” says TAG Heuer’s global president and CEO Jean-Christophe Babin.
It was quite an evening — with a specialty scotch bar, a Moet champagne bar and luxe boutique chairs transforming the Cullman Hall of the Universe (beneath the dramatic glass-cubed planetarium sphere) into a starry soiree. In attendance were 500 of New York City’s celebrities, fashion and media leader and key world figures, many of whom flew in for the event. Also in attendance from the TAG Heuer group
was the legendary Jack Heuer, and Guy Semon, the engineer behind the scenes of the brand’s most technologically advanced watches.
Cameron Diaz appeared on stage to proudly discuss her new Link Lady Trilogy Limited Edition steel watch, bracelet and ring. The new Trilogy will be available for sale. The very effervescent Diaz, however, makes no bones about admitting she prefers gold to steel, so – while on stage – Babin presented her with her very own yellow gold version of the Trilogy. DiCaprio wore
the new Link Limited Edition with blue dial.
“TAG Heuer uniquely brings tougher the elegance of generosity and the essence of luxury,” says Diaz. “I am very proud to be a part of their efforts to make the world a better and more beautiful place.”
Throughout the event, TAG Heuer showcased its new LINK collection, including the Ladies’ Link Automatic watch, the Link Lady Trilogy limited edition suite co-
designed by Cameron Diaz, and the Leonardo DiCaprio Link Caliber 16 Chronograph (signed on its smoked sapphire caseback by DiCaprio). While profits from the sales of the Link Lady Trilogy go to support UN Women, proceeds from the Leonardo DiCaprio watch go to his environment charity of choice – Green Cross International and the National Resources Defense Council. Guests were treated to two very special performances of the New York City Ballet, followed by a night of music with DJ Evalicious.
