Earlier this year, H. Moser & Cie. opted to unveil a vintage-inspired sports watch. Lots of watch pundits scoffed. This independent brand with classical looks wouldn’t be able to pull it off. Those pundits were wrong. The integrated bracelet of this Streamliner watch, which derives its name from the high-speed trains of the early 20thcentury, took more than five years to develop and create to the brand’s high standards of excellence and ergonomics (it is devoid of lugs). Moser is known by collectors around the world for its magnificent fume’ dials that are gradient in color—moving from light in the center of the dial to dark on the outer edges– and that are extremely rich and yet somehow iridescent. In fact, earlier this year, H. Moser partnered with independent watch brand MB&F to share some design aspects of each other’s watchmaking. While H. Moser & Cie. turned to MB&F’s three-dimensional movements for its pieces, MB&F made fast use of the H. Moser & Cie. fume’ dial excellence.
Setting a benchmark standard for these dials, H. Moser regularly unveils new hues, including raspberry and ice blue. This time, the grass-hued Matrix Green takes center stage. The dial is all about simple function, with a focus on the center seconds hand that complements the hours and minutes. The Matrix Green fume’ features a sunburst pattern and applied indexes. The three-hand watch is a 40mm cushion-shaped case that recalls the watches of the 1950’s. The three-dimensional hands boast inserts made of Globolight®, a ceramic-based material that contains Super-LumiNova luminescence.

It doesn’t hurt that the sport watch is also water resistant to 120 meters. It is powered by the HMC 200 self-winding caliber that is designed, developed and produced in house at the brand’s workshops. It is equipped with a regulating organ that is made by H. Moser’s sister company, Precision Engineering AG. It offers three days of power reserve and features a domed sapphire crystal. It retails for $21,900.
