Montblanc’s Heritage Chronometrie Ultra Slim in 18K rose gold
When it comes to Swiss hand-crafted timepieces, the balance between preserving the authenticity and tradition of a quality watch and developing innovative techniques within watchmaking is often as fascinating as the mechanical balance in the watch itself. Montblanc has been writing horological history for over 100 years and sees no reason to quit now. Introducing their Heritage Chronométrie Ultra Slim, the brand has successfully weaved the past and present into an exceptionally refined timepiece.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic 1948 “Pythagore” (pictured below) produced by Swiss watch-maker Minerva, the Heritage Chronométrie Ultra Slim displays the timelessly elegant design of the past. (Minerva found a new home with its fellow Swiss watch maker Montblanc) However, the Ultra Slim boasts its own in-house manually wound MB 23.01 movement with a 42 hour power reserve. While the inner workings of the 17-jewel calibre are certified to work with the utmost precision, the housing to the movement is what makes this timepiece supremely unique.

The dimensions to the Heritage Chronométrie Ultra Slim are just that. The 18 karat 5N rose gold case has a diameter of just 38mm and is only 5.8mm high. The dial, with its gold-plated hour double-faceted indexes and Arabic numerals, and the sheer minimal size of this timepiece give it a very classic, almost vintage appeal. Of course the crystal covering the Ivorygrainé dial is an anti-reflective sapphire crystal ensuring the protectant is scratch resistent. In true Montblanc style, the black alligator-skin strap comes from the company’s own leather manufacture in Florence.
The Heritage Chronométrie Ultra Slim comes in a second, steel-casing version. However the 18 karat 5N rose gold version sells for around $6,635. Considering the timeless elegance that this piece represents, the Ultra Slim truly embodies the “less is more” mentality.
