Long known as a brand for underwater adventures –created for the Italian Royal Navy decades ago – Panerai supports a host of water-related events. Perhaps none as philanthropic and grass-roots as being a founding sponsor of Sailing Heals. This incredible organization supports cancer patients, survivors and their care givers via days spent sailing on the water, which has its own healing powers.
Last week, at one of Manhattan’s most prestigious and legendary yacht clubs, the brand honored Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the Sailing Heals organization, as it kicks of this sailing season of the North American Circuit of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge. In fact, Panerai has been a supporter of Classis Yachting for years, sponsoring regattas around the world.
The mission of Sailing Heals is to partner sailors and patients together. The first branch started in Boston last year, and there have since been Sailing Heals sailing events in Miami and New York. However the idea is to expose as many patients to sailing and the water as possible, for enjoyment and a few hours free from stress via a host of partner captains and boats around the USA.
