Heritage Auctions Picks 10 Most Intriguing Timepieces of Upcoming Sale

Heritage Auctions has picked the 10 most “intriguing” timepieces that will be up for auction at the October 27 New York Watches and Fine Timepieces Auction. According to the auction house, world-wide bidders will see  a hand-curated selection of exotic, fresh-to-market timepieces at opening bids “unheard of in the collecting hobby.”

According to Jim Wolf, director of Watches and Fine Timepieces. “This is an important auction for those seeking key pieces for their collection or those who have been waiting for rarities to finally surface. All of them are in very choice condition and extremely rare. We expect strong interest in watches of superb quality and solid history.”

Here we bring you a quick look at 10 top timepieces expected to sell fast.

1- Universal Geneve Rare & Very Fine Ref. 881101/03 Steel Tri-Compax, circa 1960s.   This watch features an extremely well preserved “exotic” slate dial, and a  classic case with black tachymeter bezel. The watch is powered by the caliber 281 movement, and boasts the original bracelet (est. $10,000 – $15,000).

2 – Patek Philippe Ref. 2526 18k Rose Gold Self-Winding Wristwatch With First Series Enamel Dial Circa 1950s.  First introduced in 1953, the Ref. 2526 features Patek Philippe’s first self-winding movement. Production of this reference, 2526, was limited to 580 pieces, and is very rarely seen in rose gold (est. $25,000 – $35,000).

3 . Rolex Ref. 6263 Gold Oyster Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified Cosmograph with Rare Sigma Dial, circa 1980.   For the right collector who puts a little effort into restoring this incredible watch, it is a great “project” timepiece given the offering price (est. $20,000 – $30,000).

4–  Patek Philippe Ref. 1450 Platinum Diamond Dial “Top Hat”, circa 1955. This original Patek Philippe in platinum, with a diamond dial, is sold with the original receipt from Milan in 1955. The collectible value of this timepiece makes the opening of $1,500 something well worth jumping on (est. $3,000 – $5,000).

5-  Franck Muller Superb 18k Pink Gold Wristwatch Ref. 7000 QP E, Automatic, Perpetual Calendar, Chronograph, with Moonphase, Equation of Time, Leap Year Indicator, and 24 Hour Indicator. This is a powerful complicated Franck Muller watch with complex movement and unique design (est. $20,000 – $25,000).

6- Hublot Very Fine Rose Gold King Power Split Second Chronograph With Power Indication. With black Kevlar sides, transparent case back and a fixed  black bezel, this 52 mm, rose gold watch with rubber end push buttons with a rose gold crown is a rarity (est. $10,000-$15,000).

7-  Swiss Rare & Very Fine Carillon Minute Repeating Three Motion Automaton With Gold, Enamel & Diamond Case, circa 1900. This piece features  a central red sunburst enamel dial with golden Roman chapters and spade hands, polychrome enameled automaton figures of Mercury and two cherubs on a gilt outer disc (est. $6,000 – $8,000).

8 – An Exceptional & Rare Three Compartment Gold & Enamel Snuff Box With Concealed Automaton & Timepiece Attributed To Piguet & Capt, The Enamel Scene Likely By Richter, circa 1800.  In this incredible watch, a miniature automaton is hidden in the recess on the left side. The right side is fitted with a brass cylinder movement with three arm balance. The enameled Arabic hour and seconds dials are against a black enameled and finely engraved gold panel; the tops of the side panels with gold and enameled floral vases; the central panel with polychrome scene depicts a young boy fishing accompanied by two young women (est. $20,000 – $40,000).

9-  Rolex Ref. 16628 Gent’s Gold Yacht-Master, circa 1998. The watch features an 18k yellow gold, three body, rotating matte and polished numerical bezel, 41 mm, sapphire crystal (est. $10,000-$20,000).

10 -C.H. Meylan Brassus Rare Miniature Gold Minute Repeater, circa 1905. This is a miniature repeater pocket watch that has become rare over the years (est. $4,000 – $5,000).
