Girard-Perregaux SeaHawk
Girard-Perregaux introduced the new Sea Hawk 2014 recently.And I love its bold, sporty look and cool color combo. Perfect for outdoor summer activities – especially those involving water, the Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk not only looks good, but also is extremely functional. The specially developed protrusion of the case at 4:00, where a black rubber screw-down crown is positioned to protect against external impact, has become a signature look for the dive watch. (Some contend that the Sea Hawk – which has been in the line since 1940 – derived its name from an Errol Flynn pirate movie of the same title that had been released in 1940.

This new Sea Hawk watch features a cobalt blue dial and rubber strap (with a folding steel safety buckle) that contrast nicely with the bright orange minute hand, seconds hands and power reserve indicator, as well as with the orange insert on the bezel indicating the first 15 minute of dive time. The three dimensional hands and hour markers are luminescent coated for the readability in darkness because this watch is guaranteed water resistant to depths of 1,000 meters – meeting the requirements set by the ISO 6425 for diving watches. Additionally, it is equipped with a helium escape valve that ensures that air pressure (inside the watch and outside) is rebalanced after deep water diving.

The 44mm watch case of the Sea Hawk is made from stainless steel, and is powered by Girard-Perregaux’s in-house made GP03300 self-winding mechanical movement with a certified 46-hour power reserve. Nicely bringing the entire look of this high-function watch together is the fact that the blue dial has a raised honey comb motif that gives it a watery look. The other nice feature is its price: $10,100 on strap (the clear winner) and $11,850 on bracelet.
