The incredible cliff diving competition witnessed the finest divers as they leaped from the 27-meter-high (90 feet) diving platform.
The first Mido Ocean Star watch was launched in 1944, but the new Ocean Star watches recall the diver’s pieces unveiled in the 1960’s. There are two versions — one each with a Mediterranean blue dial and a black dial. the 40.5mm cases are crafted in stem and the dials are protected by a box sapphire crystal. Naturally, the watches are equipped with a rotating bezel. Powered by the Caliber 80 automatic movement, the watches feature 80 hours of power reserve.

Each watch features a multi-link steel bracelet making a strong statement of performance. They are further equipped with a unidirectional rotation bezel with aluminum ring — perfect for diving. The Super-LumiNova(R) accents on the bezel, hour makers and hands make for easy readability under water. Additionally, the striking tan-hued markers — juxtaposed with the orange seconds hand — offer a real vintage feel. There is also a day and date indication at 3:00 recalling the 1960’s aesthetic. The case back is decorated with a polished starfish in relief, the historical symbol of Ocean Star. Each watch is water resistant to 200 meters — ensuring it can go the distance. For those who prefer a strap, a technical fabric strap is also an option.
The watches look good, feel good, and are designed to work like a charm under the harshest of conditions. What makes these timepieces even more appealing is their affordable price point: $1,150.
