Porsche Design 1919 Datetimer 70Y Eternity Sports Car 70 Years Limited Edition
Honoring the 70th anniversary of Porsche sports cars, Porsche Design, the design studio established by Ferdinand A. Porsche, unveils the new Porsche Design 1919 Datetimer 70Y Sports Car Limited Edition. The newest timepiece is a special edition to the brand’s 1948 collection, which marks the year that the Porsche 356 made its debut. That car was the predecessor of the famed Porsche 911. The newest watch combines design elements and characteristics of the vintage car’s dashboard with contemporary interpretation.

The 1919 Datetimer 70Y Sports Car Limited Edition watch is a 42mm titanium case with a carbide coating for added sheen. It houses an automatic Swiss movement with 38 hours of power reserve, and is equipped with the brand’s well-known Porsche Design Icon Rotor. The characteristically black dial features a silhouette of the Porsche 356 in the center, and the year 1948. The tachometer rings used in the dashboard of the Porsche 356 also grace the watch. To maximize readability against the black dial, the hands are white and the numbers and indexes are three-dimensional ceramic. There is also a date window at 3:00, and the watch (water resistant to 10 Bar) is finished with a leather strap made of the Porsche sports car leather. The caseback is finished with a special “70 years” logo engraving.

The limited edition timepiece is sold in a custom box. It is available for sale as of this month at Porsche Design stores and Porsche Centers specialty retailers. Since 1972, Porsche Design has been driven to create watches with the same aesthetics as Porsche sports cars. This newest piece happens to be highly affordable at $3,248.
